We are now twenty five days into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There was two games yesterday. In the Eastern Conference the Carolina Hurricanes had the chance to eliminate the New Jersey Devils. In the Western Conference it was game five of the tied round two series between the Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken. The Stanley Cup Playoffs continue tonight with two more games. In the Eastern Conference the Florida Panthers will have a chance to eliminate the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the Western Conference one team will take the lead in the Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers series.

Coming into game five the Carolina Hurricanes had a 3-1 series lead over the New Jersey Devils. The Hurricanes won game one 5-1, game two 6-1, and game four 6-1. The Devils won game three 8-4. Every game in this series has been a blowout. The Hurricanes had the chance to advance to the Conference finals with a game five win. Dawson Mercer scored the opening goal of the game. His goal gave the New Jersey Devils the lead. The score was 1-0 Devils after the first period.
Jacob Slavin scored to tie the game early in the second period. Timo Meier scored on the powerplay to give the Devils the lead. Brent Burns scored to tie the game late in the period. The score was 2-2 going into the third period.
Neither team scored in the third period. The game would head into overtime with the score tied at 2-2.
Jesper Fast scored on the powerplay to win the game for the Hurricanes. That overtime powerplay goal also eliminated the New Jersey Devils. The Carolina Hurricanes have now advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals.


Outside of game three and game five the Devils did not put up a fight in this series. They lost the lead twice in game five. It just was not a strong outing from them. The Hurricanes were clearly going to win this series after they destroyed the Devils in game two. Winning game one by five goals can be chalked up to being a fluke. They did it back to back proving it was no accident. Thats when the writing was on the wall about the Devils losing the series. After game four it was only a matter of time before the Hurricanes won the series.
The Carolina Hurricanes and moving on to the Eastern Conference Finals. They will play the winner of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers series. The start date for all of that is still to be determined.


Coming into game five the Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken series was tied at 2-2. Wyatt Johnston scored the opening goal fo game five to give the Stars the lead. Roope Hintz scored to give the Stars a to goal lead. The score was 2-0 Stars after the first period.
Joe Pavelski scored just over 30 seconds into the period to give the Stars a three goal lead. Adam Larsson scored to get the Kraken on the board. Jared McCann scored to get the Kraken within one goal. The score was 3-2 Stars heading into the third period.
Roope Hintz scored again to get the Stars up by two goals. Radek Faksa scored for the Stars too. The final score was 5-2 Stars. The Dallas Stars now have a 3-2 series lead over the Seattle Kraken.


In this game the Stars put the pressure on the Kraken and didn’t let up. The Kraken are now facing elimination. Will the Kraken force a game seven? Will the Stars keep their foot on the gas in game six?
Game five will be on Saturday, May 13th 2023. Puck drop is set for 4:00pm PST.



Round two game fives finish up today. The Florida Panther have a chance to eliminate the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Panther won game one 4-2, game two 3-2, and game three 3-2 in overtime. The Maple Leafs won game four 2-1 to force a game five. Can the Maple Leafs force a game six? Can the Panthers close out the series in game five?
In tonights other game the Vegas Golden Knights take on the Edmonton Oilers. The Golden Knights won game one 6-3 and game three 5-1. The Oilers won game two 5-1 and game four 4-1. One of the teams will take the series lead today. Multiple players were suspended after game four. The last three games in this series have been one sided. It has been a back and fourth series. Will tonight be another blowout? Who will take the series lead in game five? Will the Golden Knights stop the Oilers offense? Will the Oilers offense dominate another game in this series?


The Vegas Golden Knights, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, Seattle Kraken, and New Jersey Devils have advanced to round two. The Winnipeg Jets, New York Islanders, Minnesota Wild, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and New York Rangers have been eliminated.
The New Jersey Devils have been eliminated in round two. The Carolina Hurricanes have advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals
The Vegas Golden Knights are playing the Edmonton Oilers in round two. The Dallas Stars are playing the Seattle Kraken in round two. The Toronto Maple Leafs are playing the Florida Panthers in round two.
