We are now twenty nine days into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There was only one game yesterday. The Dallas Stars played the Seattle Kraken. It was game seven. The winner would move on to the Western Conference Finals. The loser would be eliminated from the playoffs. There won’t be any more games for a couple of days as the National Hockey League teams get a short break before the Conference Finals.

The Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken would need seven game to decide the winner of their series. Both teams had won three games in the series. The Kraken won game one 5-4 in overtime, they won game three 7-2, and forced a game seven with a 6-3 win in game six. The Stars won game two 4-2, game four 6-3, and game five 5-2. Neither team scored in the opening period of game seven. The score was tied at 0-0 after the first period.
Roope Hintz scored the opening goal of the game. His goal was the only goal of the second period. The goal gave the Stars the lead. The score was 1-0 Stars after the second period.
Wyatt Johnston scored to give the Stars a two goal lead. Oliver Bjorkstrand scored with under 30 seconds to go in the game to put the Kraken within one goal. It was not enough. The Stars hung on to win the game and the series. The final score was 2-1 Stars. The Dallas Stars now advance to the Western Conference Finals. The Seattle Kraken are now eliminated.

This was another close game in a back and fourth series. This was only the second game in this series though that was within one goal. The Shots in this one were close. Neither team was able to take advantage on the powerplay. The hits were close. The only thing separating these teams in this game was Wyatt Johnstons goal. Seattle had a good run for their first ever playoffs. Losing by one goal in game seven of round two is not a bad way to go out.
With Seattle now out there is a 100% chance that a southern United States team will win the Stanley Cup. The north most team currently in the Stanley Cup Playoffs heading into the Conference Finals are the Vegas Golden Knights.
Another interesting fact is that there could be a Stanley Cup Finals this season that features the Minnesota North Stars and Hartford Whalers. The North Stars became the Dallas Stars in 1993. The Whalers became the Carolina Hurricanes in 1997. Neither one of those teams won cups. I think it would be cool if they both made it to the Stanley Cup Finals to wear their retro jerseys. Even if it was just in warm ups.
The Dallas Stars are now in the Western Conference Finals. They will face the Vegas Golden Knights. Game one of that series will be on Friday May 19th at 5:30pm PST.
