We are now thirty two days into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Eastern Conference Finals started yesterday with game one of the series between the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers. The Western Conference Finals start today. That will start with game one of the Vegas Golden Knights and the Dallas Stars series. Last night had plenty of action. Today promises to bring the action as well.

It was game one of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Carolina Hurricanes hosted the Florida Panthers. A lot was on the line as the winner would have the series lead. Seth Jarvis scored the games opening goal late in the first period. His powerplay goal gave the Hurricanes the lead. The score was 1-0 Hurricanes after the first period.
Aleksander Barkov tied the game. Carter Verhaeghe scored to give the Panthers the lead. The score was 2-1 Panthers going into the third period.
Stefan Noesen tied the game early in the third period on the powerplay. Regulation time ended with the score tied at 2-2. The game would go into overtime. No one scored for three overtime periods. Matthew Tkachuk netted the winner with under 20 seconds to go in the fourth overtime. The final score was 3-2 Panthers. The Panthers now have a 1-0 series lead.

This was an absolutely insane game. They played the equivalent of two games and an extra period. It was a close game. after game one I expect this to be a close series. This seems to be a good matchup. The only thing that stands out on the score sheet is Panthers not scoring on any of their powerplays. Will powerplays give the Hurricanes an advantage in this series? How will the Hurricanes respond in game two? Will the Panthers continue to find ways to win? Will there be more overtime in this series?
Game two will be on Saturday May 20th at 5:00pm PST.

Game one of the Western Conference Finals is today. Will the Golden Knights goal tender issues be too much for them to over come? Can the Stars find the same success they had over the Golden Knights in the regular season?
