We are now thirty four days into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There was one game yesterday. Yesterdays game was game two of the Eastern Conference Finals. That series is between the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers. There is one game going on today. That game is game two of the Western Conference Finals. That series is between the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars.

Coming into game game two of the Eastern Conference Finals the Florida Panthers had a 1-0 series lead over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Panthers won game one 3-2 in the fourth overtime. In game three the Hurricanes got on the board early in the game with a goal from Jalen Chatfield to go up 1-0. They would take that lead into the second period.
Aleksander Barkov scored in the second period for the Panthers. His goal tied the game at 1-1. The score was 1-1 going into the third period.
Neither team scored in the third. It would stay tied at 1-1. For the second game in a row in this series they would need overtime to decide a winner.
Matthew Tkachuk would again score the game winning goal in overtime. He scored that goal on the powerplay. The final score was 2-1 Panthers. The Florida Panthers now have a 2-0 series lead.

Another game. Another overtime. This marks the fifth overtime in two games in this series. It was also the third game in a row in the Conference Finals to go to overtime. It was the sixth overtime period of the Conference Finals. So there has been a lot of overtime so far in this round of the playoffs. The Hurricanes had a weak response in this game. They didn’t build on their lead. They ended up losing the lead. They never regained the lead. One goal just isn’t going to do it. The Panthers found a way to tie the game. Then they found a way to win in overtime. After two games in this series the Panthers are the better team. Will game three go into overtime? How will the Hurricanes respond? Will the Panthers continue to outplay the Hurricanes?
Game three will be on Monday May 22nd at 8:42pm PST.

Game two of the Western Conference Finals is today. The Vegas Golden Knights have a 1-0 series lead over the Dallas Stars after the Vegas Golden Knights won game one in overtime. Will there be more overtime in game two? Will game Two be as close as game one? Will the either team be able to keep a lead? Will the Golden Knights take a 2-0 series lead? How will the Stars respond? Will the Stars be able to get the split and tie the series in Vegas?
