We are now thirty five days into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There was one game yesterday. Yesterdays game was game two of the Western Conference Finals. That series is between the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars. There is one game going on today. That game is game three of the Eastern Conference Finals. That series is between the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers.
Coming into game two of the Western Conference Finals the Vegas Golden Knights had a 1-0 series lead over the Dallas Stars. The Vegas Golden Knights won game one 4-3 in overtime. Game two started off with an early goal for the Stars. Miro Heiskanen scored to give the stars the lead. Mark Stone scored on the powerplay to tie the game. The game was tied up at 1-1 after the first period.
Jason Robertson scored about half way through the second period. His powerplay goal gave the Stars the lead. His goal was also the only goal scored in the second period. The Score was 2-1 Stars heading into the third period.
Jonathan Marchscored late in the third period. His goal would tie the game. His goal was the only goal in the third period. The game was tied at 2-2 after regulation time. For the fourth game in a row and second in a row in this series overtime was needed to determine a winner.
Chandler Stephenson scored early in overtime. His goal won the game for the Vegas Golden Knights. The final score was 3-2 Golden Knights. The Vegas Golden Knights now have a 2-0 series lead over the Dallas Stars.
Enough with the overtime. Can someone please keep a lead? This game comes down to Dallas not being able to keep or build on their leads. They let Vegas hang around and it ended up costing them the game. credit to Vegas for staying with it. They didn’t lead the whole game and ended up winning. Both games so far in this series have been close. It’s been a lot of good hockey. Both games could have gone either way. Vegas has just had the edge so far in this series. Will the home crowd help the Stars get the edge they need to beat the Golden Knights? Will the Golden Knights continue to find ways to win? How will the Stars respond in a critical game three? Will there be more overtime?
Game three will be on Tuesday May 23rd at 5:00pm PST in Dallas.
Game three of the Eastern Conference Finals is today. The Florida Panthers have 2-0 series lead over the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Panthers won game won in the fourth overtime and they won game two in overtime as well. Will game three go into overtime? How will the Hurricanes respond? The Winnipeg Jets, New York Islanders, Minnesota Wild, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and New York Rangers were eliminated in round one.
