Day Thirty Eight Recap Of The 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs

We are now thirty eight days into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There was one game yesterday. Yesterdays game was game four of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers. The Panthers had the chance to sweep that series. There is one game going on today. That game is game four of the Western Conference Finals. That series is between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Dallas Stars. The Golden Knights have a chance to seep and win the series today.

Heading into game four of the Eastern Conference Finals the Florida Panthers had the opportunity to sweep the Carolina Hurricanes. The Panthers were up 3-0 in the series heading into yesterdays game. They won game one 3-2 in the fourth overtime. They won game two 2-1 in overtime. They won game three 1-0. Game four started with a goal from Anthony Duclair 41 seconds into the game. His goal gave the Panthers the lead. Matthew Tkachuk scored on the powerplay to add to their lead. Paul Stastny scored to bring the Hurricanes back to within one goal. The score was 2-1 Panthers after the first period.

Teuvo Teravainen scored to tie the game early in the second period. Ryan Lomberg scored about halfway through the period. His goal gave the panthers the lead. The score was 3-2 Panthers heading into the third period.

Jesper Fast scored with under 5′ minutes to go in the game. His goal tied the game. The game would not go into overtime though. Matthew Tkachuk scored with 5 seconds to go in regulation time. His goal gave the Panthers the lead. The final score was 4-3 Panthers.

The Florida Panthers have won their series with the Carolina Hurricanes 4-0. The Panthers have swept the Hurricanes. The Florida Panthers have won the Eastern Conference Finals. The Panthers are the Eastern Conference Champions. The Panthers are now advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals. They will face either the Vegas Golden Knights or Dallas Stars in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Carolina Hurricanes are now eliminated from the playoffs.

The Hurricanes were chasing this game the whole time. They never had a lead. It didn’t really feel like they were in it. It wasn’t the response they need. Their backs were against the wall and they didn’t do much. Overall this series was just close game after close game. The Panthers thrived with that. They found ways to win. It was a good series and I expected more from the Hurricanes. Getting swept is not the way I thought they were going to go out.

The Florida Panthers are now in the Stanley Cup Finals. They will face the winner of the Western Conference Finals. That will either be the Vegas Golden Knights or Dallas Stars.

Game four of the Western Conference Finals is today. The Vegas Golden Knights have a 3-0 series lead over the Dallas Stars. If the Golden Knights win tonight the Stars will be eliminated and the Golden Knights will advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Golden Knights won game one 4-3 in overtime, game two 3-2 in overtime, and game three 4-0. Will the Golden Knights sweep the Stars? What will the Stars response be in game four? Will the Stars even respond at all in game four? Are the Stars going to let the Golden Knights walk all over them?

The Vegas Golden Knights, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, Seattle Kraken, and New Jersey Devils advanced to round two. The Winnipeg Jets, New York Islanders, Minnesota Wild, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and New York Rangers were eliminated in round one.
