The NBA season finished up yesterday with the conclusion of the NBA Finals. I wanted to do an Ice Hockey crossover concept for the NBA Finals. This will be a lot like the Super Bowl X Ice Hockey Concept I did. The Denver Nuggets played the Miami Heat. I find it fun to reimagine other sports as ice hockey.
The NBA Finals logo is the same in this concept as in real life. The NBA did announce new branding for the playoffs not that long ago too. They also redid all of their trophies.
The Denver Nuggets used seven logos on their uniforms during the NBA Finals. The main logo they use is their secondary logo. It has a circle with crossing pick axes, a basketball, and a mountain design. Other logos they use on their uniforms include, a basketball with pick exes, a skyline logo, a Denver wordmarks, a Nuggets wordmark, and a Mile High City wordmark.
The Miami Heat used their secondary logo on all of their uniforms on the 2023 NBA Finals. Their secondary logo is identical to their primary logo without the team name. Its a flaming basketball and a hoop. They also used an MH logo, a Miami word mark, and a Heat wordmark on their uniforms during the 2023 NBA Finals.
Both teams also have sponsors logos and a Bill Russell memorial patch on their jerseys.
The Nuggets used their Icon, Statement, and City jerseys during the 2023 NBA Finals. Their Icon jersey is navy, white, and red. On the front is a Denver wordmark. On the shoulders are the secondary logo and the pick axe basketball logo. The Statement jersey is blue and red. On the front is their Mile High City wordmark logo. On the shoulders is the skyline logo and the pick axe basketball logo. The player numbers are also on the front of the jersey. Their city jersey is white and blue. On the front is a Denver wordmark logo. On the shoulders are Nuggets wordmark logos. I only found the Nuggets City jersey to be challenging. The pattern on that jersey is cool but it does not translate well to a hockey jersey. The only other problem I had was figuring out logos as Sportlogos.net is not up to date with a lot of the NBA logos. The Icon jersey also turned out to look like the blue 2014 USA Hockey jersey.
The Heat used their Statement and Association jerseys during the 2023 NBA Finals. Their Statement jersey is red, black, yellow, and white. It has the Miami word mark on the font. On the shoulders it has the secondary logo and MH logo. Their Association jersey is white, red, black, and yellow. On the front is the Heat wordmark logo. On the shoulders it has the secondary logo and MH logo. Both of the Miami jerseys use the same patterns.
I think the Icon jersey turned out the best for the Nuggets. I think the Association jersey turned out best for the Heat. My y favorite of all of these has to be the Nuggets statement jersey. While I think it didn’t turn out as well as some of the other jerseys I like it for its uniqueness with the mountain pattern at the bottom.
The Denver Nuggets play in Ball Arena. Ball Arena is also the Home of the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League. The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse league also play there. The arena can hold 18,000. It does not need to be modified to hold ice hockey.
The Miami Heat play in the Kaseya Center. They are currently the only team using the Arena. It was recently renamed after FTX filed for bankruptcy. The arena can fit 19,600 fans for basketball. According to Wikipedia the arena can fit an NHL size rink and has the ice making equipment built in. The arena has never hosted an ice hockey game though. The arena can fit 14,447 for ice hockey. If it was an NHL arena it would be the second smallest in the league. It would be the seventh largest arena in the American hockey league and the sixth largest arena in the East Coast Hockey League.
