I’m here today with the first team concepts for this series. Here are the concepts for Group A concepts for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 as ice hockey. In my last post I talked about what this concept is all about. New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines, and Switzerland make up Group A. The New Zealand have the 35th ranked women’s ice hockey team in the world. Norway have the 13th ranked women’s ice hockey team in the world. The Philippines are unranked but do have a national ice hockey program. Switzerland have the 4th ranked women’s ice hockey team in the world.
In Group A are New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines, and Switzerland. Every country here already has an ice hockey program. For this concept none of that would change.
New Zealand is one of the host countries. They are sponsored by Nike. I did not modify their logo. Their colors are black and white for their 2023 uniforms they added silver to their logo and light blue to their white kit. They have a black jersey and a white jersey. Both jerseys use a fern pattern on the jerseys. On the collars are AU NZ 2023 because they are the hosts. The New Zealand Women’s Ice Hockey League (NZWIHL) is the highest level of women’s ice hockey in the country. It appears to be on the same level as travel hockey here in North America.
Norway is sponsored by Nike. Their colors are red, blue, white, and gold. I did modify their logo. I got rid of the NFF in the logo which stands for Norway Football Federation and I replaced it with 1902 which is the year the Norway Football Federation was founded. They have a blue jersey and a white jersey. On the collar is 1995 for when they won the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Norway has the Norwegian Women’s Championship as their annual women’s ice hockey competition. It is done in partnership with the top pro leagues in Norway but it seems to be just a series of games between two women’s teams that are part of larger clubs. It is kind of like if the top two NHL teams in the playoffs had women’s teams that played in a best of seven series during the off season.
The Philippines are sponsored by Adidas. Their colors are blue, red, white, yellow, and black. I did modify their logo. I replaces the word football with hockey in the logo. I got rid of the soccer ball in the logo and replaced with the sun from their flag. I changed PFF (Philippines Football Federation) to PHI which is the country abbreviation. I also made a white and red and white and blue logo to match the ones seen on their FIFA Women;’s World Cup 2023 kits. They have a blue jersey , a white jersey, and a red jersey. On their collar is the Philippines flag. The Philippines do have a program that does encourage the growth of women’s ice hockey in the country but it does not look like they have a league.
Switzerland is sponsored by Puma. Their colors are red and white. They have a red and a white jersey. I did modify their logo my FIFA World Cup 2022 ice hockey concept by getting rid of the soccer ball. That logo is used here. On the collar are the Swiss flag and abbreviation. The Women’s League Switzerland is the top level of women’s ic hockey in Switzerland. It is an amateur league organized by the Swiss Ice Hockey federation.
Here is what Group A looks like. The red Switzerland jerseys are my favorite. #1 ranked is Switzerland. #2 ranked is New Zealand. #3 ranked is the Philippines. #4 ranked is Norway.
