This was the first game of the season for Reno Pond Hockey. Reno Pond Hockey had not played a game since August. Only about eight players returned to Reno Pond Hockey from last season. It is basically a new team which is becoming a yearly tradition.
The Reno Fire Hosers D were coming off of a 2-10 loss to Bangerang to open up the season. They are were in seventh place with a record of 0-1-0.
Reno Pond Hockey’s all-time record against the Reno Fire Hosers D was 1-1-0. The last game between Reno Pond Hockey and the Reno Fire Hosers D was on Sun. Jun. 18th, 2023. Reno Pond Hockey lost that game 1-7.

Reno Pond Hockey scored the games opening goal with 14:34 left in the first period. The goal was scored by #14 Drew Miller. It was assisted by #25 Ethan Crisp. Reno Pond Hockey added to their lead with 10:38 left in the first period. That goal was scored by Ian Barton. It was assisted by #28 Zac Seidemann (C) and #77 Mark Rogers. #6 Merritt Dunlap would leave the game in the first period and not return. #33 Scott Wrye would also not return for the second period. The Reno Fire Hosers D took the lead with a goal just over a minute after tying the game. The Reno Fire Hosers D took a two goal lead with 8:01 left in the second period. Reno Pond Hockey got off to a strong start in the first period. They couldn’t hold on in the second period. The second period was like a complete breakdown. They managed to crawl back in the third period but it just was not enough. Overall it was a good effort and good game. Considering most of the players are trying to learn a new system and they have not played together before, they did alright. There is a lot of room for growth. There was also a lot of positive take aways from this game. This is the sixth season opener Reno Pond Hockey has lost in eight seasons.

The only penalty of the game was a minor penalty given to #15 Brad Wunderlich.
