In todays concept I have reimagined the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup final as ice hockey. The CONCACAF Champions Cup is the top club soccer competition in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. The final was between The Columbus Crew of the MLS in the United States and C.F. Pachuca of Liga MX in Mexico. The 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup final took place at the 30,000 capacity Estadio Hidalgo in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. C.F. Pachuca won the game 3-0. This concept will be like my MLS Cup X Ice Hockey Concept, my FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Ice Hockey Concept, my Qatar 2022 Ice Hockey Concept, and my 2024 UEFA Champions League Final Ice Hockey Concept.

The CONCACAF Champions Cup was previously the CONCACAF Champions League. The name change came as the tournament was restructured. The tournament was originally called the Champions Cup for over forty five years. The changes in the tournament structure and name seems to be an effort from CONCACAF to distance the tournament from the UEFA Champions League. 2024 was the first year of the new name and tournament format.
The logo for the 2024 COCACAF Champions Cup final is the same in this concept as in real life. The logo is a design of a trophy with the tournament name underneath. The trophy has remained unchanged.

The Columbus Crew colors are black and yellow. Their crest is in the shape of the Ohio flag. Inside of the crest is a C and a “96”. The C is for the city and team name. The “96” is for 1996 when the team was founded. Above the crest is “Columbus”. Below the crest is “Crew”. The Club de Fútbol Pachuca colors are blue, green, white, red, and gold. Their crest has the team name, an image of a building, the colors of the Mexican flag, and ten stars.
Columbus Ohio has a thriving hockey community with the National Hockey Leagues Columbus Blue Jackets. It does not look like Pachuca has a pro hockey team. The Liga Mexicana Elite de Hockey only has four teams all based in Mexico City. Like a lot of smaller hockey nations, the LMEH is a professional tournament with the goal of growing the game and strengthening the national team.

The Columbus Crew are sponsored by Adidas. All MLS teams are sponsored by Adidas. Their jersey is yellow and black. The pattern on the jersey is inspired by the pattern seen on their soccer kit. I think it actually works really well and this is now one of my favorite soccer jerseys I have turned into a hockey jersey. On the front is the Columbus Crew crest with three stars. On star for each of their MLS championships. The numbers are in the MLS font. On the shoulders are the CONCACAF Champions Cup badge and the MLS logo. The MLS logo is in gold for the Crew because they are the reigning MLS champions. In real life the MLS has their champions wear a silver patch with all other teams wearing an MLS patch in their team colors. A gold patch for the champions would be much better. On the collar is “todos son invitados” which is Spanish for “everyone is invited”. That phrase is on the collar of their real life jerseys.
C.F. Pachuca are sponsored by Charly. Charly are a Mexican athletic wear company. They sponsor several Liga MX teams. They do not make hockey jerseys. From what I can tell the only sport they really do is soccer. For this concept they would manufacture their own hockey jerseys. The pattern on the jersey is blue camouflage with a topography design. The design is inspired by the design on their soccer jerseys. The design was done in collaboration with the Call of Duty video game series. On the front of the jersey is a recolored version of the C.F. Pachuca crest. On the shoulder is the CONCACAF Champions Cup badge. The font is the same one used on their soccer jerseys. Unlike the MLS, Liga MX teams have different sponsors and fonts. On the collar is the Charly logo and a green, white, and red design that is inspired by the back of the collar on their soccer jerseys.
