The Summer Olympics start tomorrow morning. I am on the west coast of the United States so there is a big time difference. The Games of the XXXIII Olympiad will be hosted in Paris, France. Not all of the events and venues will be in Paris but all of the events and venues are in France. There will be thirty five venues used at this years Olympics. The venues are set up into four zones. The Grand Paris Zone, the Paris Centre Zone, the Versailles Zone, and the Outlying venues. Some of the venues have changed their names for this years Olympics. That is not uncommon. Sporting venues tend to have sponsorship related names. The Olympics does not let any venue use their sponsored name.

Stade Yves-du-Manoir located in Colombes France, has a capacity of 15,000. The Stadium was built in 1907 and renovated for Paris 2024. Stade Yves-du-Manoir is home to Racing Club de France Football who play in the fourth tier of the French football league system. Stade Yves-du-Manoir was the main venue for the 1924 Olympics. It will be hosting field hockey.

Stade De France located in Saint-Denis, has a capacity of 81,338. It is the largest stadium in France by capacity. It is the National Stadium of France. The Stadium was opened in 1998. It is home to the France National Football Team, the France National Rugby Union Team, Stade Français Paris, and Racing 92. Stade Français Paris and Racing 92 play in the top Rugby Union league in France. Stade De France will host rugby sevens, athletics, and the closing ceremony.

Paris La Défense Arena is located in La Défence, France. It has a capacity of up to 40,000. Paris La Défense Arena was opened in 2017. It is home to Racing 92 and the France Rugby Union Team. Paris La Défense Arena will host the aquatics swimming and water polo finals.

Porte de La Chapelle Arena (Adidas Arena) is located in Paris. The brand new arena has a capacity of 8,000. It just opened earlier this year. Porte de La Chapelle Arena is home to Paris Basketball. Paris Basketball play in the top tier mens professional basketball league in France. The Porte de La Chapelle Arena will host Badminton and Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Paris Aquatic Centre is located in Saint-Denis, France. It has a capacity of 5,000. It opened earlier this year. The Paris Aquatic Centre will host water polo, aquatics diving, and aquatics artistic swimming.

Le Bourget Climbing Venue is located at Le Bourget. Basically the venue is a temporary stage at the Paris airport. It will have a capacity of 5,000. It is a temporary venue used only for Paris 2024. The Le Bourget Climbing Venue will host sport climbing.

Arena Paris Nord (Parc des Exposition De Villepinte) is located in Villenpinte. The venue is part of a convention center. It is in the same complex as the Le Bourget. Like the Le Bourget Climbing Venue it is at a convention center by the airport. It will have a capacity of 6,000. It does not seem to be a permanent venue. It seems to be a part of the convention center configured to be an arena. It will host boxing and modern pentathlon.

Parc des Princes is located in Paris. It has a capacity of 48,583. It was opened in 1972. It is the third iteration of the stadium dating back to 1897. It is home to Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, the France National Football Team, and the France National Rugby Union Team. Paris Saint-Germain Football Club play in Ligue 1 which is the top of the French Football League System. Parc des Princes will host Football (soccer).

Stade Roland Garros is located in Paris. It has a capacity of up to 15,000. It opened in 1928. It is the home of the the French Tennis Federation. It is a clay court. Paris Expo Porte de Versailles is located in Paris. It is another convention center. It will have two arenas that can hold 12,000 each. It opened in 1923. It will host volleyball, table tennis, handball, and weightlifting.

Bercy Arena is located in Paris. It has a capacity of 15,000. It opened in 1984. It was renovated in 2015. It does not look like the arena has any preeminent tenants. The arena can host boxing, tennis, handball, basketball, ice hockey, and athletics. It will host artistic gymnastics, gymnastics trampolining and the basketball finals.

Grand Palais is located in Paris. It has a capacity of 8,000. The primary purpose of the building is to be an expo hall. It opened in 1900 for the Exposition Universelle. It will host fencing and taekwondo.

Place de la Concorde is located in Paris. It was built in 1772. It is a public square. It is most notable for being the main public execution site in Paris. It will have temporary venues built in the square. It will have a total capacity of 30,000. It will host basketball 3×3, breaking, BMX freestyle cycling, and skateboarding.

Hôtel de Ville is the Paris city hall. It was originally built in 1357 with expansion in 1533 and was rebuilt in 1892. It will have a capacity of 1,500. It will be the starting location of the marathon.

Pont Alexandre III is bridge in Paris. It will have a temporary capacity of 1,500. It was built from 1896 to 1900. It will host aquatics marathon swimming, triathlon, and cycling time trial finish.

Pont d’Iéna is another bridge in Paris. It will have a temporary capacity of 13,000. It opened in 1814. It will host the athletics race walk, and cycling road race.

Eiffel Tower Stadium (Champ de Mars) is located in the same park as the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It is the most aesthetically pleasing of all of the Paris 2024 venues. The temporary stadium can fit 12,000. It has a direct view of the Eiffel Tower. I looks less than two hundred yards away from the tower. It will be hosting beach volleyball.

Grand Palais Éphémère is a temporary exhibit hall located right next two the Eiffel Tower Stadium. It will have a capacity of 9,000. It was built in 2021. It is scheduled for demolition after the Olympics. It will host judo and wrestling.

Les Invalides is located in Paris. The location normally is a museum, church, hospital, retirement home, and mausoleum. A temporary archery stadium is built on the grounds for the Olympics. The location is notable for housing the tomb of Napoleon. The temporary stadium will have a capacity of 8,000. It will host archery. athletics marathon finish, and cycling time trial star.

Gardens of the Palace of Versailles are located on the grounds of the Palace of Versailles in Versailles, France. The Palace of Versailles was constructed in 1661. It is a massive location with huge cultural significance to the world. A temporary stadium will be built on the grounds with a total capacity of 80,000. The Gardens of the Palace of Versailles will host equestrian and modern pentathlon.

Le Golf National is located in Guyancourt, France. The golf course has a capacity of 35,000. It was built in 1990. It will host golf.

Parc Olympique Lyonnais is located in Décines-Charpieu. It has a capacity of 59,186. It opened in 2016. Olympique Lyonnais and the France National Football Team play there. Olympique Lyonnais are another Ligue 1 team. Parc Olympique Lyonnais will host football.

Stade Matmut Atlantique (Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux) is located in Bordeaux. It has a capacity of 42,115. It opened in 2015. It is the home of FC Girondins de Bordeaux. FC Girondins de Bordeaux are a Ligue 2 team. Ligue 2 is the second level of football in France. Stade Matmut Atlantique will host football.

Stade Geoffroy-Guichard is located in Saint-Étienne, France. It has a capacity of 41,965. It opened in 1931. It was renovated in 1983, 1984, 1996, 1998, 2011, and 2014. AS Saint-Étienne plays here. They are another Ligue 1 team. Stade Geoffroy-Guichard will host football.

Teahupo’o in French Polynesia will host the surfing.

The National Shooting Centre is in Châteauroux, France. It has a capacity of 3,000. It will host shooting.

The opening ceremony will be on the Seine river in Paris.
