I am not confident in the United Staes in this game. While New Zealand may be an easier opponent, the United States has not played at a level that sparks confidence in this group for this match. The United States played poorly in game one. They did not finish their chances, they struggled to get the ball out of their defensive end, they were clearing and passing the ball without purpose to no one. They were outmatched by France. If the United States could have finished some of their chances against France, there may be more confidence in this squad for this game. This is a must win for the United States. There is a lot of pressure. There is not a lot of confidence. I want to see the United States win this game. The only way they will do that is by moving the ball with purpose. They can’t just clear the ball to no one. They can’t just pass the ball to no one. The forwards need to be further out. In the first match, the United States was giving France all the time and space they wanted. The United States was letting them get as close to the box as they wanted. The United States collapsing in their defensive end. That can not happen in this game. The United States will have to challenge for the ball more. They will have to push up more and not just back up all the way into their own net.

  • Game two
  • Second game of the group stage
  • New Zealand are favored to win
  • USA are the underdogs
  • A lot of pressure
  • Create chances
  • Play the ball with purpose
  • Challenge
  • Don’t just keep backing up on defense
  • Win open balls
