The Tahoe Knight Monsters took on the Utah Grizzlies last night. Puck drop was at 6:10 PM. The game was at the Maverik Center. It was the fifth game of the season. The Utah Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. The Grizzlies were coming off of a 4-6 loss to the Allen Americans. The Grizzlies had a record of 3-2-0. The Grizzlies were in 23rd place in the ECHL. The Grizzlies were in 11th place in the Western Conference and 6th place in the Mountain Division.

Both teams played five games. Both teams had three wins. The Tahoe Knight Monsters had the better win percentage. The Utah Grizzlies had scored six more goals. #35 Dylan Myskiw was in net for the Tahoe Knight Monsters. It was his first start of the season. It was also his first professional game. Myskiw was signed by the Knight Monsters earlier in the week. #34 Adam Scheel got the start in net for the Utah Grizzlies. It was his sixth start of the season. The Utah Grizzlies also signed forward Reed Morison. The Grizzlies activated goaltender Jake Barczewski and forward Aaron Aragon. The Grizzlies placed goaltender Vincent Duplessis, defender Chase Hartje, and defender Kyle Pow on reserve.

Less than two minutes into the game, the Tahoe Knight Monsters took the lead on goal from #10. Jett Jones. His goal was assisted by #14 Patrick Newell and #8 Ryan Orgel. Jones was all alone in front of the net. He got the puck and was able to put it in.

Three minutes into the game, the Utah Grizzlies tied the game. #16 Luke Manning scored the goal and was assisted by #5 Derek Daschke and #10 Mick Messner. On a delayed penalty, Manning got the puck and scored.

Seven minutes into the game, #23 Jake Johnson of the Knight Monsters received a penalty for delay of game. Fifteen minutes into the game, the Grizzlies took the lead. #4 Bryan Yoon scored the game. His goal was assisted by #5 Derek Daschke and #27 Cade Neilson. Yoon shot the puck from the point and it went in.

Just over a minute later, the Utah Grizzlies scored again. #17 Reed Lebster scored the goal. #74 James Shearer and #10 Mick Messner got the assists. Shearer passed the puck to Lebster who tipped it in. This goal gave the Grizzlies a two goal lead.

There was a fight almost right after the goal. #48 Anthony Collins of the Knight Monsters received a five minute penalty for fighting and #42 Nick Pastorious of the Grizzlies received a five minute penalty for fighting. The score was 3-1 Grizzlies after the first period.

Five minutes into the second period, the Tahoe Knight Monsters scored. #9 Troy Loggins scored the goal. It was unassisted. Loggins got on the break away and put it between the goalies legs. This brought the Grizzlies lead down to one goal.

Ten minutes into the second period, the Knight Monsters scored again. #26 Nate Kallen scored. His goal was assisted by #28 Logan Nelson and #12 Bear Hughes. Nelson got the puck in the Grizzlies zone. He passed it to Kallen who was skating down the middle. Kellen roofed it. This goal tied the game.

A minute into the third period, #21 Sloan Stanick of the Tahoe Knight Monsters received a penalty for tripping. Four minutes into the third period, the Knight Monsters retook the lead with a goal from #17 Adam Robbins. His goal was assisted by #22 Cal Kiefiuk and #28 Logan Nelson. On the rush, Robbins got open on the wing. With space and time he took a shot that went in.

Ten minutes into the third period, the Utah Grizzlies tied the game. #11 Cameron Buhl scored the goal with #13 Dylan Fitze and #24 Gianni Fairbrother getting the assists. Buhl got the puck in the slot and scored.

With less than six minutes left in the game, the Grizzlies scored again. #11 Cameron Buhl scored again. #13 Dylan Fitze got the assist. Buhl crashed the net and the puck went in. This goal gave the Grizzlies the lead.

With just over three minutes to go in the game, the Knight Monsters pulled their goalie. The Grizzlies did score on the empty net. #13 Dylan Fitze scored the goal with #35 Dylan Myskiw getting the assist. The final score was 6-4 Grizzlies.

This was a close very back and fourth game. Goaltending was the biggest factor for the Tahoe Knight Monsters. I think the goaltending lead to the Knight Monsters not being able to hold their leads. The Grizzlies were able to come back each time they went down. It was a game either team could have one and the Knight Monsters were just on the losing side of it. Love to see Collins get a fight. There were also a lot less penalties in this game than in the first five Knight Monsters games.
