
The Tahoe Knight Monsters took on the Tulsa Oilers on Saturday. Puck drop was at 7:00 PM. The game was at the Tahoe Blue Event Center. It was the tenth game of the season. The Tahoe Knight Monsters were coming off of a 1-4 defeat to the Tulsa Oilers. The Knight Monsters had a record of 5-3-1. The Knight Monsters were in 18th place in the ECHL. The Knight Monsters were 9th in the Western Conference and 5th in the Mountain Division. The Oilers had played eleven games. The Oilers were coming off of a 4-1 win over the Tahoe Knight Monsters. The Oilers had a record of 7-3-1. The Oilers were in 6th place in the ECHL. The Oilers were in 2nd place in the Western Conference and 1st place in the Mountain Division.

The Tulsa Oilers had played two more games. The Oilers had two more wins. The Oilers had the better points percentage. The Oilers had scored fourteen more goals. The Oilers had allowed two more goals. The Oilers had the better goal differential. The Oilers had four more points. The Tahoe Knight Monsters had 106 penalty minutes. The Tulsa Oilers had 136 penalty minutes. Would the Knight Monsters bounce back? Would the Oilers win back to back? Who was going to win this three game series? Would there be another fight?

#30 Jordan Papirny was in net for the Tahoe Knight Monsters again. He started in net for all three games of this series. Defender Elijah Vilio was activated by the Knight Monsters. Forward Blake Christiansen was activated by the Knight Monsters. Defender Troy Loggins was placed on reserve by the Knight Monsters. Defender Jake Johnson was placed on injured reserve by the Knight Monsters. Forward Adam Pitters was place from 3-day injured reserve to 14-day injured reserve. #30 Vyacheslav Buteyets got the start in net for the Tulsa Oilers. Forward Michael Farren was placed on reserve by the Oilers. The Oilers also picked up shane Kuzmeski on waivers from Wichita.


Five minutes into the game, #2 Kylor Wall of the Tulsa Oilers received a penalty for interference. Thirteen minutes into the game, #96 Brennan Kapcheck of the Tahoe Knight Monsters received a penalty for interference. Neither team scored in the first period. The score was tied at 0-0 after the first period.

Three minutes into the second period, #21 Sloan Stanick of the Tahoe Knight Monsters was awarded a penalty shot. He did not score on the penalty shot. Five minutes into the second period, #38 Sasha Pastujov of the Tulsa Oilers scored. His goal was assisted by #6 Jack Clement and #29 Seaon Olson.
Less than a minute later, the Tulsa Oilers scored again. #8 Reid Petyk scored the goal. #27 Austin Albrechy and #10 Anthony Costantini got the assists. This goal gave the Oilers a two goal lead.
Nine minutes into the second period, the Tahoe Knight Monsters scored. #28 Logan Nelson scored the goal. His goal was assisted by #19 Luke Adam and #96 Brennan Kapcheck. On the rush, Adam got the puck to Nelson who was going towards the net down the middle. Nelson tipped the puck into the goal. This goal cut the Oilers lead down to one goal.
Twelve minutes into the second period, #10 Jett Jones scored for the Knight Monsters. His goal was assisted by #21 Sloan Stanick and #26 Nate Kallen. Stanick got the puck to Jones from across the offensive zone. Stanick took the puck towards the middle. His shot found the back of the net. Jones goal tied the game.
With under three minutes left in the period, #45 Daneel Lategan recieved of the Oilers received a penalty for hooking. The score was tied at 2-2 heading into the third period.

Ten minutes into the third period, #37 Jaxsen Wiebe of the Tulsa Oilers received a penalty for delay of game. Twenty five seconds later, #24 Mike McKee of the Oilers received a penalty for cross-checking. Just over thirty seconds later, the Tahoe Knight Monsters took the lead on the 5-on-3 powerplay. #13 Simon Pinard scored the goal. His goal was assisted by #21 Sloan Stanick and #18 Daniil Chayka. Stanick passed the puck to Pinard. From the left of the goalie, Pinard took a one timer. His one timer found the back of the net.
With under six minutes left in the game, #96 Brennan Kapcheck of the Knight Monsters received a penalty for roughing and #27 Austin Albrecht of the Oilers received a penalty for high-sticking. With just under two minutes left in the game, the Tulsa Oilers pulled their goalie. With just over a minutes left in the game, the Oilers scored to tie the game. #8 Reid Petryk scored the goal. His goal was assisted by #38 Sasha Pastujov.
Regulation time ended with the score tied at 3-3. The game went into overtime.

Three minutes into overtime, #96 Brennan Kapcheck of the Knight Monsters received a penalty for tripping. Neither team scored in overtime. The game was headed to the shootout.

The Tahoe Knight Monsters shot first in the shootout. #28 Logan Nelson scored on the Knight Monsters first shootout attempt. #8 Reid Petryk scored on the Tulsa Oilers first attempt in the shootout. #55 Chris Dodero missed his shootout attempt for the Knight Monsters. #38 Sasha Pastujov scored on his shootout attempt for the Oilers. #13 Simon Pinard missed his shootout attempt for the Knight Monsters. The final score was 4-3 Tulsa Oilers.

The Tahoe Knight Monsters battled their way back into this game. They were down by two quick goals and managed to tie the game before the end of the period. They took the lead on the powerplay. It was nice to see a powerplay goal after the knight monsters struggled on the powerplay in Fridays game. They just could not hage onto their lead. It came down to the wire and the Tulsa Oilers were able to tie the game with their goalie pulled. Shootouts are almost always a toss up. They just couldn’t find the back of the net in the shootout. The Knight Monsters walked away with a point but did not bounce back from their Friday night loss. The Oilers did win back to back games to end this three game series. The Oilers won this series. There was not another fight. In close games like this I do not expect fights. A fight could lead to unnecessary penalties or ejections.

The Tulsa Oilers had one more shot for the second game in a row. The Oilers had the better shot percentage. The Tahoe Knight Monsters had three more penalty minutes. #30 Jordan Papirny saved 32 shots for a 89% save percentage for the Knight Monsters. #30 Vyacheslav Buteyets also saved 32 shots for a 91% save percentage for the Oilers.




The Tahoe Knight Monsters now have a record of 5-3-2 with 12 points in 10 games. The Knight Monsters are in 18th place in ECHL. They are in 8th place in the ECHL Western Conference. They are still in 5th place in the ECHL Western Conference Mountain Division. They are one point away from the last playoff spot. They are now five points away from the top spot in the division. They still have the 3rd highest points percentage in the division.


The Tahoe Knight Monsters will take on the Kansas City Mavericks for game eleven on Wednesday, November 20th. It will be a home game. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 AM. This is another divisional game. The theme is school day.
