
The Tahoe Knight Monsters took on the Iowa Heartlanders last Sunday. Puck drop was at 1:00 PM. The game was at Xtream Arena in Coralville Iowa. It was the thirty eighth game of the season. The Knight Monsters were coming off of a 1-0 shootout victory to the Iowa Heartlanders. The Tahoe Knight Monsters had a record of 23-11-3. The Knight Monsters were in 5th place in the ECHL. The Knight Monsters were 2nd in the Western Conference and 1st in the Mountain Division. The Iowa Heartlanders are the ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild. The Heartlanders had played thirty seven games this season. The Heartlanders were coming off of a 0-1 shootout loss to the Tahoe Knight Monsters. The Heartlanders had a record of 21-11-5. The Heartlanders were in 11th place in the ECHL. The Heartlanders were in 5th place in the ECHL Western Conference. The Heartlanders were in 3rd place in the ECHL Western Conference Central Division.

Defender Dominic Vidoli was placed on reserve by the Knight Monsters. #35 William Rousseau started in goal for the Iowa Wild. It was his fourteenth game played this season. On Sunday, forward Matthew Slop and goaltender William Rousseau were assigned to the Iowa Heartlanders from the Iowa Wild. Defender Andrew McLean was placed on reserve by the Heartlanders. Goaltender Dante Giannuzzi was placed on 3-day injured reserve by the Heartlanders.


Six minutes into the game, Zeteny Hadobas of the Iowa Heartlanders received a penalty for boarding. Twelve minutes into the game, the Heartlanders took the lead. #53b T.J. Walsh score the goal. #77 Nico Blachman and #9 Matthew Sop got the assists.
With under three minutes remaining in the first period, Chris Lipe of the Heartlanders received a penalty for holding. On the powerplay, the Heartlanders scored to take a two goal lead. #7 Jules Boscq scored the goal. His goal was assisted by #36 Yuki Miura.
The score was 2-0 Iowa Heartlanders after the first period.

Three minutes into the second period, Brennan Kapcheck of the Tahoe Knight Monsters received a penalty for fighting. Brandon Yeamans of the Iowa Heartlanders also received a penalty for fighting. Six minutes into the second period, Keanan Stewart of the Iowa Heartlanders received a penalty for hooking. With five minutes left in the second period, the Knight Monsters scored to cut the lead back down to one goal. #28 Logan Nelson scored the goal. #49 Artur Cholach and #19 Luke Adam got the assists.

Two minutes into the third period, Brennan Kapcheck of the the Tahoe Knight Monsters received a penalty for cross-checking. Five minutes into the third period, the Knight Monsters tied the game. The goal was scored by #13 Simon Pinard. His goal was assisted by #21 Sloan Stanick.
Eight minutes into the game, Sloan Stanick of the Knight Monsters received a penalty for delay of game. With under five minutes remaining in the game, Adam Robbins of the Knight Monsters received a penalty for hooking. The score was tied at 2-2 after the third period. For the second game in a row, the game went into overtime.

One minute into overtime, the Tahoe Knight Monsters scored to win the game. #10 Jett Jones scored the game winning goal. His goal was assisted by #49 Artur Cholach.
The final score was 3-2 Tahoe Knight Monster.


It was the Iowa Heartlanders game to lose after the first period. The Tahoe Knight Monsters started to close the gap in the second period. The Knight Monsters were able to tie the game in the third period. The Knight Monsters quickly ended the game in overtime. The Knight Monsters did a good job to shut down the Heartlanders after the first period. The Heartlanders struggled to score after the first period and allowed three unanswered goals for the Knight Monsters to win. It was a solid comeback by the Knight Monsters. The both teams were able to score. The Knight Monsters were able to shut down the Heartlanders after the first period. The offense seen from the Heartlanders in last Fridays game was no were to be found on Saturday or Sunday. This was a solid series for the Knight Monsters. The first game was an off game. The next two games they brought their game up to a another level. I wish the Knight Monsters could have gotten three straight wins. The Knight Monsters walk away with five points and the Heartlanders walk away with four points. The 3-7 loss on Friday was the most goals allowed by the Knight Monsters in a single game. The 1-0 shootout win on Saturday was the least goals scored in a game involving the Knight Monsters. Fridays game excluded, these are two pretty even teams. There was some great hockey played this weekend.
The nine game road trip is finally over. The Tahoe Knight Monsters finish this road trip with a record of 6-3-0. The Knight Monsters won all of the games that went to overtime or a shootout. They scored 26 goals on this road trip. They allowed 24 goals on this road trip. They got shutout once. They had one shutout. They went to overtime three times. They went to a shootout once. It was a very eventful road trip. This road trip saw the Tahoe Knight Monsters move up from 2nd in the ECHL Western Conference Mountain Division to leading the division. The Knight Monsters are in a great spot halfway through the season.

The Tahoe Knight Monsters had nineteen more shots. The Iowa Heartlanders had the better shot percentage. This will be an ECHL Western Conference game. This will be the first of three home games between the Knight Monsters and the Komets. Then the Knight Monsters hit the road again.
