It was the forty-fourth game of the season. The Knight Monsters were coming off of a 2-5 defeat to the Kansas City Mavericks. The Tahoe Knight Monsters had a record of 25-15-3. They had lost their last three games in a row. The Knight Monsters were in 9th place in the ECHL. The Knight Monsters were 3rd in the Western Conference and 2nd in the Mountain Division. The Mavericks have played forty-two games this season. The Mavericks were coming off of a 5-2 win over the Knight Monsters. The Mavericks had a record of 26-11-4. It was his twenty-eighth game played this season for the Mavericks.


Two minutes into the game, Kansas City took the lead. #17 Jackson Berezowski scored the goal. His goal was assisted by #11 Landon McCallum and #13 David Cotton.
Five minutes into the game, the Tahoe Knight Monsters tied the game. The tying goal was scored by #9 Troy Loggins. His goal was assisted by #28 Logan Nelson.
With under two minutes left in the first period, Jackson Berezowski of the Mavericks received a penalty for holding. The score was tied at 1-1.

Five minutes into the second period, Aiden Girduckis of the Tahoe Knight Monsters received a penalty hooking. Ten minutes into the second period, the Knight Monsters scored to take the lead. The goal was scored by #21 Sloan Stanick. His goal was assisted by #13 Simon Pinard and #30 Jordan Papirny. On the play, Sloan Stanick of the Knight Monsters also received a penalty for roughing, Jett Jones of the Knight Monsters received a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, and Marcus Crawford of the Kansas City Mavericks received a penalty for roughing.
Eleven minutes into the third period, Bear Hughes of the Knight Monsters received a penalty for holding the stick. Landon McCallum also received a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct on the same play. With under four minutes left in the second period, Marcus Crawford of the Mavericks received a penalty for cross-checking. The score was 2-1 Tahoe Knight Monsters heading into the third period.

Under two minutes into the third period, the Kansas City Mavericks tied the game. The goal was scored by #9 Cam Morrison. His goal was assisted by #6 Justin MacPherson and #15 Marcus Crawford.
Five minutes into the third period, Patrick Newell of the Tahoe Knight Monsters received a penalty for elbowing and Brennan Kapcheck of the Knight Monsters received a ten-minute misconduct. Seven minutes into the third period, the Knight Monsters retook the lead. Jake Johnson scored the goal. His goal was assisted by #9 Troy Loggins and #28 Logan Nelson.
Less than a minute after the Knight Monsters took the lead, the Mavericks tied the game, #44 Max Andreev scored the tying goal. His goal was assisted by #22 Casey Carreau and #18 Damien Giroux.
With under a minute left in regulation time, Brennan Kapcheck of the Knight Monsters received a penalty for cross-checking. The score remained tied at 3-3 at the end of the third period. The game would go into overtime.

Two minutes into overtime, the Kansas City Mavericks scored to win the game. #6 Justin MacPherson scored the game-winning goal. His goal was assisted by #13 David Cotton.
The final score was 4-3 Kansas City Mavericks.

The Kansas City Mavericks took the lead early. The Tahoe Knight Monsters were able to tie up the game quickly. The Knight Monsters took the lead in the second period. I was hopeful after the second period. The Mavericks tied it up early in the third period. The Knight Monsters retook the lead. The Mavericks quickly tied it again. The Mavericks found the overtime goal. It was a close game and unfortunately the Knight Monsters couldn’t keep their leads. The Kansas City Mavericks extended their winning streak to five games. they are now firmly leading the ECHL Western Conference Mountain Division. The Tahoe Knight Monsters losing streak has extended to for games even though they walked away with one point in this game. The Knight Monsters had some struggles in January which have come to a head here with the Mavericks sweeping these three games in Kansas City. The Knight Monsters were outscored almost 2-to-1 this weekend. Despite that the games on Friday and Sunday were close. The biggest result from this weekend is that the Knight Monsters are not longer leading the division.
