The Tahoe Knight Monsters are the Tahoe Golden Monsters this week for affiliation weekend. They have changed their name and will wear specialty jerseys to celebrate their affiliation with the Vegas Golden Knight of the NHL and the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL. The Tahoe Golden Monsters take on the Adirondack Thunder for three games this week. All three games this week are in Sateline, Nevada at the Tahoe Blue Event Center. The first game will be on Thursday, February 6th at 7:00 PM. The second game will be on Friday, February 7th at 7:30 PM. The third game will be on Saturday, February 8th, at 7:00 PM. The Tahoe Golden Monsters have played forty-four games going into this week. The Adirondack Thunder have played forty games going into this week. This series will be between a top three ECHL Western Conference teams and the last place team in the ECHL Eastern Conference.

Yes their are multiple teams in the ECHL named the Thunder. There has been for a while now. The Adirondack Thunder are from Glen Falls, New York. They play in the 4,794 capacity Cool Insuring Arena. The Thunder are the ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils of the NHL and the Utica Comets of the AHL. Their have been teams in Glen Falls since 1979. Most of those teams were AHL teams. In 2015, the Stockton Thunder moved up from the ECHL to the AHL and become the Stockton Heat. The Adirondack Flames moved down from the AHL to the ECHL. The new team in Glen Falls would be the Adirondack Thunder. The Stockton Thunder branding was copied to the Adirondack Thunder. The Stockton Thunder had some of the best branding in all of sports. I don’t think they should have recolored it and sent it off the Adirondack. The Bakersfield Condors and Ontario Reign kept their names. The Stockton Heats could have stayed the Stockton Thunder. Glen Falls has a population of just 14,507. Their metro population is just 128,774. It is crazy that they have been able to support pro hockey in that area for so long. The Adirondack Thunder are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year.

The Tahoe Golden Monsters are third in the ECHL Western Conference Mountain Division. They are in a playoff position. They just finished up three games on the road against the Kansas City Mavericks. The Golden Monsters are coming off of three losses against the Kansas City Mavericks. The Golden Monsters are 3-6-1 in their last ten games. They are also on a four game losing streak. The Adirondack Thunder are last in the ECHL Eastern Conference North Division. They are not in a playoff spot. The Thunder are coming off of back to back wins against the Reading Royals. The Thunder are 3-6-1 in their last ten games.
