I am super late for this post but here we go. Sloan Stanick of the Tahoe Knight Monsters was named the 2024-25 John A. Daley Memorial Trophy as the ECHL Rookie of the Year. Stanick was also named to the 2024-25 all rookie team. Stanick was also on the ECHL 2024-25 All-Star roster. Stanick was also the ECHL rookie of the month in December 2024. Stanick joined the Tahoe Knight Monsters for their inaugural season after five years in the Western Hockey League with the Regina Pats and the Prince Albert Raiders. During the 2024-25 season, Stanick scored 29 goals with 50 assists for 79 points in 70 games. He also had 24 penalty minutes with a +/- of +23. He also played two games in the American Hockey League during the 2024-25 season with the Henderson Silver Knights. He had 0 goals with 0 assists for 0 total points with the Silver Knights. He also had 4 penalty minutes and a +/- of -1 with the Silver Knights. During the 2024-25 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs Stanick had 1 goal with 6 assists for 7 total points in 8 games for the Knight Monsters. He also had 4 penalty minutes during the playoffs. Sloan Stanick was the second best player in the ECHL during the 2024-25 season. He was the best player under thirty years old in the ECHL. He was not really given a shot in the AHL during the 2024-25 season. Stanick is good enough to be an AHL regular however keeping him in the ECHL allowed him to have a bigger role on the team he was playing with. It was likely a better development choice to keep him in Tahoe. Stanick not moving up definitely helped the Knight Monsters have a successful first season. He will likely be given more of a chance in the AHL next season if he sticks around. Unfortunately it does not seem that there is not a lot of room right now in the Vegas Golden Knights organization for players to grow between the ECHL and AHL. Especially with recent signings in the organization and injuries to the Henderson Silver Knights. The Golden Knights don’t have a lot of room for the Silver Knights players to move up which in turn means there is not a lot of room on the Silver Knights for Knight Monsters players to move up. That is just the way things happened for the 2024-25 season. That trend will likely continue for the 2025-26 season.
