I haven’t been able to publish posts the way I normally do over the last couple of weeks. First I got sick, and then I had a few teeth pulled, which completely wiped out my energy. Honestly, I could barely get out of bed. But I’m finally feeling well enough to get back at it, and I’m here now.
In this post, I want to take a closer look at the Tahoe Knight Monsters transactions so far this season. It’s been an especially busy stretch for the organization, starting early on when Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill went down with an injury. That led to Carl Lindbom being called up from the Henderson Silver Knights, which in turn prompted Henderson to call up Cameron Whitehead from the Knight Monsters. To fill the gap, Tahoe signed goaltender Zachary Borgiel to a standard player contract (SPC), which is the league’s minimum contract. Not long after, Tahoe’s other goalie, Jordan Papirny, was also called up to Henderson. Suddenly, both of the Knight Monsters opening-night goaltenders were in the AHL, leaving Tahoe with only one netminder available. In response, the team signed Zane McIntyre to another SPC. Henderson would send Papirny back down to Tahoe, and the Knight Monsters released Borgiel.
Zachary Borgiel arrived with a solid amateur résumé. He played junior hockey in the NAHL, USHL, GOJHL, and BCHL, and competed in the NCAA with Merrimack College and Providence College. Last season with Providence, he suited up for 12 games, logging 686 minutes with a 2.54 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. His time with the Knight Monsters was brief, he didn’t appear in a single game before being released. He had no prior professional experience.

Zane McIntyre, on the other hand, brings a wealth of experience to Tahoe’s crease. After playing junior hockey in the USHL and college hockey at the University of North Dakota, he was drafted by the Boston Bruins in 2010. His pro career has taken him through the NHL, AHL, ECHL, KHL, and DEL. Last season he played for the Straubing Tigers in Germany’s DEL. Since joining the Knight Monsters, he has appeared in three games, playing 177 total minutes with a 3.05 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.

On November 10th, 2025, the goalie carousel continued. Jordan Papirny was called up again to the Henderson Silver Knights, while Cameron Whitehead was reassigned back to Tahoe as part of the transaction. Papirny, now in his second year with the Knight Monsters, has been strong this season, appearing in six games and logging 365 minutes with a 2.80 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage. He has yet to play for Henderson this year. Whitehead, meanwhile, has played only two games for Tahoe so far, recording a 4.50 goals-against average and a .890 save percentage in 120 minutes. With Henderson, he has appeared in five games, playing 296 minutes with a 3.04 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage.

The most recent move came on November 12th, 2025, when defender Adam Samuelsson was traded from the Knight Monsters to the Worcester Railers in exchange for future considerations. Samuelsson didn’t play a game for Tahoe this season, spending most of his time on injured reserve.
