The Tahoe Knight Monsters were fourth in the Mountain Division with a record of 33-30-6. The Tahoe Knight Monsters are the ECHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights. The Tahoe Knight Monsters were coming off a loss to the Allen Americans. The Allen Americans were in third place in the Mountain Division with a record of 40-23-5. The Allen Americans are the ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators. The Allen Americans were coming off a win over the Tahoe Knight Monsters. The Americans had won their last eight games.





Three minutes into the game the Allen Americans scored the first goal of the game. With under nine minutes left in the opening period, the Tahoe Knight Monsters tied the game. With under a minute left in the first period, Tahoe was called for tripping. On the penalty kill, Tahoe was called for delay of game. The score was tied at 1-1 after the first period.

Nine minutes into the second period, the Tahoe Knight Monsters scored to take the lead. Less than a minute later the Tahoe Knight Monsters scored again to take a two-goal lead. With three minutes left in the period, Tahoe was called for roughing. At the same time, the Allen Americans were called for roughing. At the end of the period, Allen was called for roughing. The Tahoe Knight Monsters were leading the game 3-1 going into the third period.

Four minutes into the third period, the Allen Americans scored to bring the lead down to one goal. Midway through the third period, the Americans scored to tie the game. With under four minutes left in the game, Allen was called for high-sticking. The score was tied at 3-3 after regulation time. The game would go into overtime.

A minute into overtime, the Allen Americans were called for tripping. On the power play, the Tahoe Knight Monsters scored to win the game. The final score was 4-3, Tahoe Knight Monsters in overtime.
