This hurts. This hurts way more than a gut punch. I feel like a lot has been taken away from me. Not like that is anyones fault. I’m not angry. I’m not depressed yet. Losing this team is like losing a lot for me. It’s not just losing all of the content that i make surrounding the team. It’s losing a lot more than that. There are friends that I only see at Reno 1868 FC matches. I may never see them again. It’s hard to explain but it’s losing the community that surrounds the team. Thats how I feel right now. There are ways that the fans can still save the team. It doesn’t seem like that is likely. If it does happen the team will probably not stay in their current form. This sucks. We were just getting started. It’s not difficult to see coming. Fans were having talks about this as soon as the USL postponed the season. Honestly Reno 1868 FC has never been profitable (as far as I know). I think that was a factor in the team folding. I think that will be a key factor in trying to save the team. Again this sucks. Really sucks. I think moving forward our efforts as fans and supporters will be to “save the team”. I am not done yet. This team shall live on. If nothing else just trying to secure the name and playing non-league I’ll consider a win.

  1. […] Reno 1868 FC announced that the club was folding. They have already ceased operations. This did feel like it came out of nowhere. It didn’t though. To my knowledge Reno 1868 FC never had a profitable season. The 2020 season probably put the team into a further financial hole. It was rumored since before the 2020 season resumed that San Jose was pulling their affiliation. That was later confirmed after the MLS announced that they would be creating a reserve league. That was significant as San Jose paid for almost every player. San Jose might have been paying for some of the coaching staff costs.  […]

  2. […] Reno 1868 FC folded back in November. When Reno 1868 FC left the only they took pro soccer out of Reno. The highest level of soccer we had here was college. The University of Nevada Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College still have teams. The former Northern Nevada UPSL team, the Nevada Coyotes FC hasn’t played since 2019 and I believe the team folded. […]
