We are now nine days into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There was three games yesterday. In the Eastern Conference, the Carolina Hurricanes played the New York Islanders. Then in the Western Conference the Dallas Stars played the Minnesota Wild. Ehe other Western Conference game saw the Los Angeles Kings play the Edmonton Oilers.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs continue tonight with two more games.

The Carolina Hurricanes came into game five with a 3-1 lead over the New York Islanders in the series. Pierre Engvall score the only goal of the first period. His goal gave the Islanders the lead. The Islanders lead 1-0 after the first period.
Brock Nelson scored to give the Islanders a two goal lead. Paul Stastny then scored to get the Hurricanes on the board. Matthew Barzal scored late in the second period to regain the Islanders two goal lead. The score heading into the third period was 3-1 Islanders.
Sebastain Aho scored one more for the Hurricanes. That would be it for game five. The final score was 3-2 Islanders. The Hurricanes still lead the series as it is now 3-2 Hurricanes.


The Hurricanes weren’t able to seal the deal in game five. The Islanders back is still against the wall for game six. Will the Hurricanes finish off the Islanders in game six? Will the Islanders force a game seven?
Game six will be on Friday April 28th with the start time still to be determined.


The Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild series was tied at 2-2 going into game five. Tyler Seguin scored an early powerplay goal to give the Stars the lead. Jason Robertson would score a different powerplay goal to give the Stars a two goal lead. The score was 2-0 after the first period.
Mason Marchment scored the only goal of the second period. His goal expanded the Stars lead. The score after two period s was 3-0 Stars.
Ty Dellandrea scored the only goal of the third period. His goal would give the Stars a four goal lead. The final score was 4-0 Stars. The Dallas Stars now lead the series 3-2.


The wild didn’t show up in this one. Credit to the Stars but the Wild did nothing in this game. The Stars now have a chance to closeout the series at home in game six. If the Wild continue to play how they did in this game there will not be a game seven.

The Edmonton Oilers verses the Los Angeles Kings series was tied at 2-2 going into game five. Evander Kane scored the opening goal of the game on the powerplay to give the Oilers the lead. Leon Draisaitl scored to add to that lead. Alex Iafallo scored to get the Kings on the board. Brett Kulak scored to regain the two goal lead for the Oilers. Adrian Kempe scored for the Kings to cut the Oilers lead back down to one goal. The score was 3-2 Oilers after the first period.
Nick Bjugstad scored to regain the two goal lead for the Oilers. Zach Hyman scored on the powerplay to put the Oilers up by three goals. The score was 5-2 heading into the third period.
Nick Bjugstad scored his second goal of the game. His goal would put the game way out of reach for the Kings. Quinton Byfield scored the final goal of the game for the Kings. The final score was 6-3 Oilers. The Edmonton Oilers now have a 3-2 series lead over the Los Angeles Kings.


This is another game where the Oilers lost multiple two goal lead. This game was a scoring fest. Five goals in the first period alone. The Oilers scored early and kept the game out of the Kings reach. That isn’t something that we had seen from them in this series. The Oilers now have the chance to close out the series in game six.
Game six will be on Saturday April 29th with the start time still to be determined.



Round one game fives finish up tonight. The Boston Bruins have a chance to eliminate the Florida Panthers with a win tonight. The Seattle Kraken and Colorado Avalanche series is tied. Whoever wins tonight will have the chance to win the series in game six.
