On Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, the Tahoe Knight Monsters put out a teaser video for their upcoming “Affiliation Weekend” promo. “Affiliation Weekend” will be on February 6th, 7th, and 8th. All three of those games will see the Tahoe Knight Monsters take on the Adirondack Thunder. The theme if “Affiliation Weekend” is the Vegas Golden Knights. This weekend will celebrate the affiliation between the Tahoe Knight Monsters of the ECHL, the Henderson silver Knights of the AHL, and the Vegas Golden Knights of the NHL. I do not have most of the details. I do know there will be specialty jerseys worn by the Tahoe Knight Monsters inspired by the Vegas Golden Knights that weekend. I don’t know what these jerseys will look like. I have not seen them. I do not know if there will be giveaways that weekend. Fans have been asking if the Vegas Golden Knights mascot Chance will be their. Fans seem to what a lot of involvement from the Vegas Golden Knights for this promo. I do not know what is going to happen. No one knows what is going to happen. Then suddenly out of nowhere, the Tahoe Knight Monsters teased that an announcement about “affiliation weekend” will be coming tomorrow. I am super excited for this. I am hoping it is a Jersey reveal. I am also hoping for more info on the weekend itself. Either way I will keep everyone updated as quickly as I can.
I would love for the Tahoe Knight Monsters to do a giveaway for the weekend. I do not know if that is going to happen. Even just a poster would be cool. The Vegas Golden Knights are out of town that weekend. It would be cool to see their mascot Chance make another appearance in Tahoe. It would be cool if they could do a whole take over. Bring in the mascot, bring in the drummers, bring in the show girls, bring the pregame show, have a Vegas Golden Knights merch booth, and have a pregame party in the plaza. Make it feel like a Vegas Golden Knights game. They could also reveal a helmet or some sort of on ice intro thing. I think a blow up castle or something would be cool. There is so much they could do.
Now is the part where I talk about the jerseys. I do not know how far they are going to go with these. Chrome teal helmets would be cool. I know that the jerseys will likely be inspired by the Vegas Golden Knights jerseys. That is just because that is what everyone does. Most teams in the AHL and ECHL have some sort of game where they celebrate their affiliations. Most of those games have jerseys and logos inspired by their NHL affiliates. The recolored logo in the teaser video kind of confirms recolored or new logos. The Vegas Golden Knights have not been around that long compaired to other teams in the NHL. The Vegas Golden Knights have only worn six different jerseys. Their home, away, and alternate jerseys which all use the same template. Their 2021 reverse retro jersey which was worn in their NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe game. That jersey was inspired by the Las Vegas Thunder of the International Hockey League. The Golden Knights 2022-23 reverse retro which glowed in the dark. Their 2024 Winter Classic jersey was the latest jersey they wore in a game. The Tahoe Knight Monsters “Affiliation Weekend” jersey could be inspired by any of those. The jersey could be in the Vegas Golden Knights colors. It could be in the Tahoe Knight Monsters colors. It could be a remix of any of the jerseys. The one thing I hope they do with this jersey and other specilty jerseys is make their available at the team store. So far none of the specialty jerseys have been available outside of an auction. The most logical choice for a Vegas Golden Knights inspired Tahoe Knight Monsters jersey would be the Golden Knights home, away, alternate jersey template in the Tahoe Knight Monsters colors. Specifically teal. The Vegas Golden Knights and Henderson silver Knights use the same templates for their jerseys. They also wore that jersey when they won the Stanley Cup. It means something to the fanbase. Vegas has a gold version, Henderson has a silver version, Tahoe should have a teal version. This one would work best with the Knight Monsters shield KM monogram logo.
Net on the list would be the a Vegas Golden Knights inspired 2021 reverse retro Tahoe Knight Monsters jersey. This would be the second best option as it has ties to when the Vegas Golden Knights played in Lake Tahoe. A teal version of this jersey would be really close to the Las Vegas Thunder jersey. It is pretty much just replacing the silver in jersey with gold. This one could work with a Tahoe word mark across the chest.
A Vegas Golden Knights 2021 reverse retro inspired Tahoe Knight Monsters jersey is another option. I think it is the weakest option. Out of all of the Vegas jerseys I think their 2021 reverse retro is the weakest. The glow in the dark feature is the only think that I think could save the jersey. It is another jersey that would work with a Tahoe wordmark across the chest.
A 2024 Vegas Golden Knights Winter Classic inspired Tahoe Knight Monsters jersey would be awesome. There are three ways I think it could go. Cream and teal, teal and gold, and gold and teal. I think it would look awesome with the shield monogram logo.
Back in 2023 I did a concept for the Tahoe Knight Monsters after they revealed their name and logo. All of the concepts i did were based on the Vegas Golden Knights jerseys. I think the Tahoe Knight Monsters are missing that connection to Vegas in their regular jersey line up. It does not have to be the same jerseys or templates. A remix or some other element could work. I also have done multiple concepts for the Vegas Golden Knights. I did one in 2020. I did one in 2023 for the Stanley Cup Finals. I did another one in 2023 for the 2023 NHL Winter Classic.
