Next up in my American Hockey League concept series is the Henderson Silver Knights. They are the primary affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights. They play in the 6,567-capacity Dollar Loan Center. Dollar Loan Center is a payday loan company. All of their locations are called Dollar Loan Center which is interesting as I do not know of another arena or stadium that has a term like arena, center, or stadium in the name that is also the name of business paying for the arena. Something else interesting from the Dollar Loan Center is their website is dontbebroke.com. That is one of the best website names ever. Henderson is twenty minutes from downtown Las Vegas. Henderson has a population of 317,610. The Henderson Silver Knights were founded in 2020.

For this concept, the Hartford Wolf Pack play in the AHL’s West Coast Division in the Western Conference. The other teams in the West Coast Division are the Abbotsford Canucks, the Bakersfield Condors, the Calgary Wranglers, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the Ontario Reign, the San Diego Gulls, and the San Jose Barracuda.

The Henderson Silver Knights name comes from multiple sources. The first source is that Nevada is nicknamed the “Silver State” thus Silver was incorporated into the name. Silver may also be in the name as silver coins often associated as being right below gold coins in middle aged type theming. Their is often a hierarchy associated between gold, silver, bronze, and cooper. I think hierarchy played a role in the naming of the the Henderson Silver Knights. Knights is in their name because they are owned, operated, and affiliated with the Vegas Golden Knights. “Armored war horse” is kind of the theme of the team and the Vegas Golden Knight is often depicted riding a horse. There are thematic implications in having the Golden Knight rid the Horse.

The Henderson Silver Knights colors are silver, gold, and black. They use multiple shades of silver in their logos and uniforms. Their primary logo is a shield with a horse on it. It closely resembles the Vegas Golden Knights primary logo. That again keeps with keeping the branding of the two teams closely connected. There is a H as the main shape of the horse head. That H stands for Henderson. Twenty links of chainmail and twenty one rivets also help make up the horse head. Those numbers are significant as they represent their first season of 2020-21. The horse head has golden eyes to keep it thematically linked to the Vegas Golden Knights. The shield of the logo and the other design within the shield are the same as the Vegas Golden Knights to again keep the teams thematically linked.

Their second logo is a silver and gold spur. The spur links back to horse riding but also links the team to the defunct San Antonio Rampage of the AHL. The San Antonio Rampage were owned by the San Antonio Spurs. The San Antonio Rampage were sold to the Vegas Golden Knights and moved to Henderson. The Vegas Golden Knights were never affiliated with the San Antonio Rampage. The Henderson Silver Knights also share similar colors in black and silver with the San Antonio Rampage. The spur logo is also similar to the Vegas Golden Knights alternate logo. Their last logo seen here is a wordmark logo inspired by the Vegas Golden Knights wordmark logo. They also use a horse shoe logo but I could not find any good versions of it on the internet to use in this concept.

The Henderson Silver Knights Home jersey is grey, black, and gold. On the front is the primary logo. On the left shoulder is the spur logo. On the the right shoulder is the Vegas Golden Knights logo. On the collar is the “forge the knight” which is the team motto.

The Away jersey is white, silver, and black. It has the same pattern as the Home jersey. On the front is the primary logo. It has the same shoulder logos as the Home jersey. “Forge the knight” is also on the collar.

The Alternate jersey is black, silver, gold, and grey. On the front is the primary logo again. It has the same shoulder logos as the Home and Away jerseys. The collar says “forge the knight” again here. The Home, Away, and Alternate jersey concepts are all heavily inspired by the Vegas Golden Knights jerseys and my 2023 Stanley Cup Finals Concept.

The Retro jersey is inspired by the Las Vegas Wranglers 2007-08 Away jerseys. The Las Vegas Wranglers were a minor league team that played in the WCHL and ECHL. They came in immediately after the Las Vegas Thunder of the IHL folded. The Las Vegas Wranglers folded after not being able to secure an arena deal following the 2013-14 season. T-Mobile Arena was being built at the time with rumors of the NHL coming to Las Vegas. That could have also had an impact of the folding of the Las Vegas Wranglers. This Retro jersey is inspired by the one they wore at the final game of the 2007-08 Kelly Cup Finals (the ECHL Championship). The 2007-08 season was also the Las Vegas Wranglers best ever season. It is a piece of Las Vegas hockey history. The Henderson Silver Knights also played in the same arena where the Las Vegas Wranglers played until their current arena was built. If the Wranglers were able to secure an arena deal they likely would have moved up to the AHL in 2015 when a lot of the other west coast ECHL teams moved up. In that case the Henderson Silver Knights may have never existed.

The City jersey is blue, white, and gold. It is inspired by the Nevada Flag. On the front is a modified version of the design seen on the Nevada flag. On the collar it says “EST. 1864” for when Nevada was founded.

The Affiliate Remix jersey is silver, black, and gold. It is inspired by the Vegas Golden Knights, Home, Away, and Alternate jerseys. On the front is a logo that combines the Vegas Golden Knights and Henderson Silver Knights primary logos. On the shoulders are the spur logo. On the collar is “Vegas Born” which is the Vegas Golden Knights motto.

The Henderson Silver Knights are the second team in this concept series not to have any Heritage jerseys. The other team is the Coachella Valley Firebirds. The Henderson Silver Knights do not have any Heritage jerseys because the Vegas Golden Knights only had one previous affiliate in the Chicago Wolves who are still in the league.
