Next up in my American Hockey League concept series is the Iowa Wild. They are the primary affiliate of the Minnesota Wild. They play in the 15,181-capacity Wells Fargo Arena. Des Moines, Iowa is three and a half hours away from Saint Paul, Minnesota. Des Moines has a population of 214,133. The Iowa Wild were founded in 2013. There has been an AHL team in Des Moines since 2005. The Iowa Wild celebrated their 10th anniversary during the 2022-23 season.

For this concept, the Iowa Wild play in the AHL’s International Division in the Western Conference. The other teams in the International Division are the Colorado Eagles, the Manitoba Moose, the Milwaukee Admirals, the Rockford IceHogs, The Springfield Thunderbirds, the Texas Stars, and the Tucson Roadrunners.

Their second alternate logo is a recolor of their primary logo. Their third alternate logo is a goldfinch logo. The goldfinch is the state bird of Iowa. Their fourth alternate logo is based on the minnesota wild logo inside of the state of Iowa with elements of Des Moines. Their last two alternate logos are their tenth anniversary logo in two different logos.
