I am back with another American Hockey League event concept. Today I have the Cleveland Monsters Outdoor Classic. This is a real outdoor game. The game is taking place in Cleveland Ohio. The Cleveland Monsters are hosting the Wilks-Barre/Scranton Penguins. For this concept, this would be a one-off event and not an annual event. This event is taking place today Saturday, March 4th, 2023.
This is the 12th and last outdoor game in this concept. This is the second outdoor game for the Wilks-Barre/Scranton Penguins. They also played in the AHL Outdoors at Boston game.
This is the logo for the event. I did not come up with this. This is the real logo for the event. the logo is a blue shield with some buildings, the event name, the stadium name, the event date, some snow flakes, the AHL logo, and the team logos.
These are the team logos. The first logo is the Cleveland Monsters main logo for this event. It has an M in front of Ohio. It is inspired by the Cleveland Barons who were around from 1976-78. The second logo is a modified version of the event logo. It replaces the team logos, stadium name, event date, and AHL logo with the Cleveland Monsters primary logo. The primary logo is all white. It is inspired by a logo seen on the real jerseys. Their third logo is the Columbus Blue Jackets primary logo in blue and white.
The first logo for the Wilks-Barre/Scranton Penguins is a wordmark logo. It is inspired by the Pittsburgh Penguins original jerseys from 1967. The second Penguins logo is a modified version of the event logo. It replaces the team logos, stadium name, event date, and AHL logo with an all-white Penguins primary logo. It also changes the color of the logo to gold. Their third logo is the Pittsburgh Penguins logo in gold and white.
The Monsters jersey is blue, black, and red. It has the M logo on the front. It is inspired by the Cleveland Baron’s 1976 jerseys. The Penguins jersey is tan, black, and gold. It has the wordmark logo on the front. It is inspired by the Pittsburgh Penguins 1976 white jersey. Both jerseys have the game date on the collar. Both jerseys have the modified versions of the event logo and recolored affiliate logos on the shoulders. My idea with this concept was to take both teams back to 1976 for a modified classic look for an outdoor game.
The Cleveland Monsters Outdoor Classic is taking place at the 67,895-Capacity FirstEnergy Stadium. For this concept (and possibly real life) this game is happening because FirstEnergy Stadium hosted an outdoor game between Michigan and Ohio State of the NCAA. In real life, the game’s start time has been pushed from 1pm to 6pm due to the weather. This is the fourth football stadium used for an outdoor game in this concept. It is the only NFL stadium used in this concept.
