Next up in my American Hockey League concept series is the Laval Rocket. They are the primary affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. They play in the 10,062-capacity Place Bell. Laval is a suburb of Montreal and the two arenas are twenty hive minutes away from each other. Laval has a population of 437,413. The Laval Rocket were founded in 2017. It was the Laval Rocket 5th anniversary during 2022.
For this concept, the Laval Rocket play in the AHL’s North Division in the Eastern Conference. The other teams in the North Division are the Belleville Senators, the Charlotte Checkers, the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Providence Bruins, the Rochester Americans, the Syracuse Crunch, and the Toronto Marlies.

The Laval Rocket colors are red, blue, and white. Their primary logo is a lettermark logo. It is a stylized R with the team name inside of it. Their name is a tribute to the Montreal Canadiens legend Maurice “Rocket” Richard.

The first Laval Rocket alternate logo is a shield with the team name in french and a blast icon. Their second alternate logo is a number nine with the blast icon below it. The nine logo is a reference to a Maurice “Rocket” Richard. The next alternate logo is a shield with a five and the blast icon. I created this logo to be their anniversary logo for this concept. In real life they did not celebrate their fifth anniversary so they did not have an anniversary logo. Their last alternate logo is a stylized fleur-de-lis with the team name and the blast icon.

The Laval Rocket home jersey is red and white. On the front is the primary logo. Also on the front is their anniversary logo. On the shoulders are their alternate shield logo and alternate nine logo. On the collar is “Go Rocket” which is their team slogan.
The Away jersey is white, red, and blue. It uses the same template as the home jersey. It has the primary logo and anniversary logo on the front. On the shoulders are their alternate shield logo and alternate nine logo. On the collar is “Go Rocket”.
The Alternate jersey is red and blue. On the front is the alternate fleur-de-lis logo. The anniversary logo is also on the front here. On the collar is “Go Rocket”.
The Retro jersey is inspired by Laval Voisins. The Laval Voisins were a Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League team that played in Laval from 1979 to 1985. They are notable for having the legendary Mario Lemieux on the team. On the front of the jersey is the Laval Voisins primary logo which is also on the city flag and logo. The anniversary logo makes another appearance on the front. On the collar are the years the Laval Voisins played.
The City jersey is blue and white. It is inspired by the flag of Quebec. The front of the jersey has the same design as the flag. The sleeves are designed to make it look like the jersey was made out of one big flag. The anniversary logo is on the shoulder. On the collar is the date when the Province of Quebec was created.
The Affiliate Remix jersey is white, red, and blue. It is inspired by the Montreal Canadiens home jersey. On the front is a recolored version of the Laval Rocket primary logo. It was recolored to match the Canadiens logo. The anniversary logo is on the front. There are no logos on the shoulders. It says “Go Habs Go” on the collar which is the Canadiens motto.
The Laval Rocket also played in the North Division Stadium Series game.
The Laval Rocket also hosted the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic.
The Laval Rocket have fifteen Heritage jerseys. The Pittsburgh Shamrocks (1935-36), the New Haven Eagles (1936-41), the Washington Lions (1941-43), the Buffalo Bison (1945-54), the Cincinnati Mohawks (1949-51), the Cleveland Barons (1960-61), the Quebec Aces (1962-67), the Cleveland Barons (1963-69), the Montreal Voyagers (1969-71), the Nova Scotia Voyagers (1971-84), the Syracuse Eagles (1974-75), the Sherbrooke Canadiens (1984-90), the Fredericton Canadiens (1990-99), the Quebec Citadelles (1999-02), the St. John’s IceCaps (2015-20017). The Laval Rocket Heritage jerseys are based on the Montreal Canadiens former affiliates.
