Next up in my American Hockey League concept series is the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. They are the primary affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. They play in the 9,046-capacity PPL Center. The Lehigh Valley is a geographic and metropolitan area in eastern Pennsylvania. The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are located in Allentown which has a population of 125,845 with close to a million in metro population. Allentown is only an hour and a half away from Philadelphia. The Phantoms were founded in 1996 as the Philadelphia Phantoms and moved to Lehigh Valley in 2014.
For this concept, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms play in the AHL’s World Division in the Eastern Conference. The other teams in the World Division are the Bridgeport Islanders, the Chicago Wolves, the Cleveland Monsters, the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Hershey Bears, the Utica Comets, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms colors are black, orange, and purple. Their primary logo is phantom design inspired by the Philadelphia Flyers logo with the team name above it.

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms only have one other logo that they use. It is their primary logo without the team name.

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms home jersey is black, orange, and purple. The four stripes on the jersey is for the four stripes on the Philadelphia Flyers logo and eight stripes on the phantoms logo. On the front is the Phantoms alternate logo. On the right shoulder is the Flyers logo. On the collar is “Our Valley Our Home” which is the Phantoms motto.
The Phantoms Away jersey is white, silver, and orange. This jersey is nicknamed the whiteout jersey. It has the same pattern as the home jersey. Some of the stripes are designed to be less noticeable. On the front is the alternate logo in all orange. On the right shoulder is the Flyers logo in all orange. On the collar is “Our Valley Our Home” again.
The Phantoms Alternate jersey is orange and black. This jersey is nicknamed the orange out jersey. It keeps with the theme of having four stripes on the sleeves. On the front is the alternate logo in all black. On the right shoulder is the Flyers logo in all black. On the collar is “Our Valley Our Home” again.
The Phantoms Retro jersey is inspired by Philadelphia Phantoms 2007-08 white jersey. The jersey is white, purple, orange, and black. On the front is the Phantoms alternate logo. It has no shoulder logos. On the collar is “1996” for when the Phantoms were founded.
The Phantoms City jersey is purple, black, and orange. On the front is a Lehigh Valley wordmark logo I came up with. The idea was to connect the jersey to the Lehigh Valley railroad by having a logo and jersey inspired by street art seen on train cars. On the shoulders is the Phantoms alternate logo. On the collar is “1812” for when Lehigh County was founded.
The Phantoms Affiliate Remix jersey is black and orange. It’s nickname is the blackout jersey. It is inspired by the Flyers home and away jerseys. On the front is the Phantoms alternate logo in all orange. There are no shoulder logos. On the collar is “Lets go Flyers”.
The Lehigh Valley Phantoms also hosted in the World Division Stadium Series game in this concept.
The Phantoms have seven Heritage jerseys. The Quebec Aces (1967-71), the Baltimore Clippers (1968-69), The Richmond Robins (1971-76), the Springfield Indians (1976-77), the Springfield Indians (1983-84), the Philadelphia Phantoms (1996-2009), and the Adirondack Phantoms (2009-2014). The Phantoms Heritage jerseys are based on the Philadelphia Flyers former affiliates.
